Icebreaker, March 23, 2013

Skippers' Meeting at 9:00 followed by postponement for Ice Breaking.  After trial and error, the most effective method proved to be doing donuts in the open water, making waves to break and move the ice out of the way.

Bob J is recognized for his driving skills and for having fun ignoring the no wake rules for the harbor.

About 11 am ten teams began racing in the harbor.  Temps in the mid 30's, both water and air.  Winds were north, about 5 to 7 kts.  Each team has two divisions that alternate, so no one except the Race Committee and Safety Boats had to say out too long in the cold.  Spectating was excellent from the clubhouse.

They sailed until after 6pm when the sun went behind the buildings and it got colder.  The RC (Dick S PRO) moved the course when the breeze went easterly and after 18 races called it a day.
